Surprisingly Cook Vegetarian is the UK’s first and only monthly magazine focusing on vegetarian cookery.
Cook Vegetarian! is packed with mouth-watering recipes that celebrate the versatility of meals without meat or fish. From innovative recipes created by top celebrity chefs that will really impress the guests, through to simple, no-fuss family meals that won’t break the bank, every issue is a one-stop guide for all your cookery needs.
As well as mouth-watering recipes, you can also pick up expert tips to hone your culinary skills, nutritional advice to keep you feeling at your best, and all the latest news, ideas and products to emerge from the burgeoning UK vegetarian scene. Whether you’re a committed vegetarian or cutting down on meat for ethical, health or (as the credit crunch bites deeper) financial reasons Cook Vegetarian! will show you just how creative, adventurous and above all, easy vegetarian cooking can be.
Subscriptions cost £15.60 for six months or £35 for twelve months.

1I’ve tried to get this magazine from many different shops, but haven’t found a single copy. If anyone can let me know where it is retailing, I would be grateful.
Also – many years ago the BBC had a very good vegetarian magazine. I was really upset when it folded. They have special editions out for summer and Christmas.

4Hi
I have looked in both Tesco & Sainsbury and have not been able to find it anywhere, the staff in the shop had never even heard about it!
I have taken a gamble & just ordered a subscription so waiting for the November issue to arrive asap!

5I got my copy from Tesco. I was so excited to think at last someone would finally write a magazine for vege’s on a monthly basis. However, I was very disapointed in the first copy as it was full of adverts and no particular recipe was very inspiring. I have been a vegetarian most of my life and always look for new ideas and inspiration which I felt did not do it for me in the initial launch of this magazine. Please, please do more research and do not copy recipes that have previousely been published in other magazines. Take a tip from Good Food Vegetarian Xmas, they publish two vege magazines per year, the other being their summer version with the most fabulous recipes and hardly any adverts.

6Further to my previous comment. I used to work in advertising and marketing. My advise, would to keep most of the advertising to the back pages unless advertisers are paying a huge amount of money as it is so irritating to have a fabulous collection of recipes interrupted with tiny ad’s. On a positive note, I will be purchasing the next issue and hope it will have improved otherwise I will be contacting the editor directly with my solutions to make this publication work.

7I have to say, i got the first issue of this and loved it. We had the mushroom and ale pie on saturday for tea and thought it was great. I’ve asked for a subscription for Christmas!
On the other hand, the good food veg christmas, i think is an absolute waste of money.

8I think people are absolutely entitled to their own opinion, though I find Beverley White’s comments a little OTT! First off horses for courses, but I think it’s fair many of us have been inspired by the recipes. My friends and I are always swapping recipes and ideas because there has been so little out there, but two of my friends sent the me the same recipe from Cook Vegetarian! within the space of an hour! Furthermore I do appreciate the point about advertising, though her comments do not suggest someone who has worked in advertising recently. Advertising appears to be vital to every magazine, and it’s only when they reach the size of BBC Good Food can they the magazine itself start setting the agenda. So for the ads to go we have to buy lots of copies!! All round I thought this was a fantastic read, and it’s nice not to feel so marginalised. Furthermore I think the veggie version of BBC Good Food is a disgrace, now that really is a collection of previously run recipes hurled together in a cheaply put together style. Compare the veggie version to the Christmas issue of BBC Good food to see my point.
