Delish Flickzine – Spring 2009

delish flickzineDelish Flickzine is a free online foodie magazine; the first issue premiered a few days ago with a Thrifty Student Theme.

“Welcome to the first issue of delish flickzine, I hope you enjoy the easy flip page style of the magazine and have some great fun trying out these tasty recipes. This issue is the “student” issue, not exclusively, but taking inspiration from low budge circumstances and trying create thrifty and flavorsome food, if your [sic] eating on a budget then you’ll find some great recipes here that are tailored to your needs.”

The magazine is the creation of Jason Stewart a 5th year graphic design student at the University of Wales.

I always say that “I like what I do, because I do what I like”, and this true in a sense of that, with my subject being very open minded and creative. I’ve been granted the freedom to produce this food magazine for my Final Major Project. Food is something I am very passionate about as is graphic design, so I have a natural affinity to involve the two.

The food is all prepared by me, and styled accordingly, and the photographs are also taken by me, I do the page layouts, typography, logo’s and so on, so I am essentially juggling the lot.

I aim my magazine at food lovers, I am not specifically targeting any audience in particular, I like to think that it is an all inclusive publication, all subscribers will find something that they will like, giving each issue a certain theme that incompasses an aspect of food, that is important to every cook, health (food that is good for the brain, heart etc), indulgence (for that makes you feel great), speedy cooking, easy cooking, impressive (review tappenyaki restauraunts, sushi) styles of cooking etc, the first issue would fall into the thrifty/speed catagory, (which is ideal for students) and I would continue along these lines, finding interesting things along the way.”
