Firezza - premium pizza delivery
Causing a bit of a buzz in the pizza-ferment is Firezza. They deliver, sadly London only, from 7 locations in the most fashionable parts of the capital. While most are also restaurants the original, Chiswick store, is take-away/delivery only. Founded in 2001, last year saw outside investment that expanded the company to the size it is now.
Wood-fired pizza ovens, mozzarella flown in from Italy and the dough is made on the day not from frozen. The Times (sadly I can’t find the link) gave them a great review in the Style section a week or so back. The pizzas are available in the traditional ‘al metro’ style; you order by the 1/2 metre (enough for 2) with different toppings every 1/4 metre.
The menu sounds delicious: there is Taleggio (Lemon dressed rocket, smoked pancetta, taleggio and mozzarella), Gamberoni (Tomato, tiger prawns, wild rocket (served separately), cherry tomatoes, garlic and fresh chilli peppers) and Capricciosa (Tomato, mozzarella, cotto ham, Italian salami, mushrooms, boiled organic egg and rustic olives) for example that all get my mouth-watering.
What’s On In London tried them out in July - “We loved them all. They were good, freshly prepared with top quality ingredients, and still piping hot. What’s more, they arrived on time from the local branch of Firezza in Lavender Hill, Battersea.”
(You can order on-line)
