Hampton Court Palace Food and Drink Festival

This May Bank Holiday weekend Hampton Court Palace will inspire thousands of foodies with a passion for fine food and drink.

On 29, 30, 31 May the Hampton Court Palace Foodies Festival will be held in the magnificent palace grounds to showcase a wealth of fine food and drink, Michelin star and top chef demonstrations and culinary inspiration.

Now in it’s second year, the flagship event, one of five festivals taking place across the UK this summer, will feature a Chefs Theatre with live demonstrations from local Michelin star and celebrity chefs; food and drink masterclasses, with hands on tutored tastings by industry experts; over 150 speciality producers and local exhibitors; favourite local restaurants and top bars, a Veuve Cliquot champagne tent, and a Harvey Nichols tasting tent as well as live entertainment and children’s masterclasses.

This year’s Chefs Theatre line up includes Jason Atherton of Maze, TV’s Nadia Sawalha, ‘Economy Gastronomy’ star Paul Merrett of The Victoria, JunTanaka of Pearl, Atule Kochhar of Benares Restaurants as well as Surrey’s Michelin star chef’s Shay Cooper of the Bingham and Stephen Drake of Drakes Restaurant. Foodies Director Sue Hitchen commented:
“Each Foodies Festival event is a great opportunity to celebrate local culinary and restaurant talent and a commitment to fresh, seasonal and local produce. Foodies brings together a passionate and discerning audience with Britain’s finest producers, connoisseurs and top chefs.”

2009’s successful run of events saw Mat Follas celebrating his Masterchef win with his first live demonstration, showcased rising stars Tiffany Goodall, Shay Cooper and Jun Tanaka, celebrated book releases with top chefs Tom Aitkens, Tom Kitchen, Galton Blackiston and Jay Raynor and saw foodie personalities Heather Mills and Stephen K Amos take to the stage in the chefs theatre. Foodies Festivals 2010 are set to hold an abundance of gastronomic highlights.
