The famed American show Iron Chef is heading to the UK. Channel 4 are now casting for the daily cookery show and would like to open the auditions to readers of The Foodie List. Based on the hit American and Japanese shows, each episode of Iron Chef UK will see four contestants each week battle the “yet to be announced” resident Iron Chefs in a cooking competition based around a central ingredient or theme.
We’re looking for confident, charismatic, professional and amateur chefs who’re up for the culinary challenge of a lifetime. The programme is already hugely popular in Japan and the US and we’re incredibly excited about launching it here in the UK!
We’re looking for people with a passion for food and cooking. Are you or someone you know a culinary colossus….a gastronomic goliath…or king of the kitchen?
If you think you have what it takes call 0141 353 8416, email possible.contestant@iwcmedia.co.uk or head to www.meontv.co.uk You have to be available for filming between 4-26 February 2010.

I lived in America for 5 years and watched the original Japanese show, then the weaker US version – this is the bext cookery show format going ! Bring it on !
THIS SHOW SHOULD STAY IN AMERICA. ITS SO PRETENTIOUS AND OVER THE TOP I HAD TO TURN OVER AFTER ONLY 5 MINUTES OF WATCHING!!!! THE OVER ZEALOUS PRESENTERS JUMPING ABOUT LIKE THEYRE ON BLUE PETER TALKING ABOUT FOOD LIKE ITS A CARTOON, COME ON CHANNE 4 U HAVE AXED COME DINE WITH ME FOR THIS GARBAGE……
I watched the Japanes version a few times and of course I watch the US one regularly. Even though between the 2 it’s the same theme but it’s presented in their own way. The UK one although I follow it and enjoy doing so, I find that they are trying too hard to be like the US presenters that sounds pathetic especially the chairman and Olly smith. Although it’s got it’s originality in some ways I like to see the presenters to be more themselves then trying to copy or imitate. This only my opinion.
