Dear Foodie List,
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I’m emailing regarding supper club host Jim Haynes and whether you would be interested in a video about Jim telling his story.
I do apologise if you already know who Jim is… but if you don’t… Jim is an American living in Paris who has hosted up to 100 people every Sunday at his home in Paris for the last thirty years. I thought it might be relevant given the current trend of underground supper clubs which has been in the UK for the last year, however Jim has been running them for a while. Anyone can attend his dinners, they just email him via his website – www.jim-haynes.com
To be completely transparent, I’m working on a campaign for After Eight chocolates. Jim is the leading figure in our latest advertising campaign and we’re looking to tell his story. The video is unbranded… it just tells his story – how he first started his suppers, (serving drinks at parties of the widow of George Orwell) ingredients for a good party, the people who go to his dinners and how a couple met at his supper club and they now have three children.

I found out about Jim Haynes a few years ago but have never attended one of his evenings… great though they sound.
I was quite surprised when I caught the new After Eight advert recently…
Am wondering if the PRs have realised that, outside of travellers and foodies looking for quirky experiences in Paris, less people have heard of Jim than they thought and they’re now trying to build recognition of his name?
All a bit odd.

He is certainly not someone I had ever heard of.. and I don’t really watch much TV to be aware of the After Eight adverts…
