Jimmys Farm Pigs - Essex

When you see beyond the hype of the TV show and having Jamie Oliver as a mate, Jimmys Farm (or rather the “Essex Pig Company” as it should be called) is making a mark for rearing pigs in a humane and food-friendly way. And it helps to reinforce the idea of identifying where our food comes from and how it is produced - in many ways that enhances the enjoyment of the produce, but also reassures us with traceability and ethical standards.
So yes they have a farm shop and an online store - but they also host a monthly farmers’ market - which brings together a number of local producers of quality food - the next two being on November 4th and December 9th 2006 and thereafter on the first Saturday of the month.

We are displaced Geordies and have lived in Vancouver for over 40 years ,and we were told to look for Jimmy,s farm on TV.
I have to tell you I am totally addicted to the program.
What a worker and so enthusiastic when things were going wrong .
Now I,ve found him on line and see he,s doing so well.
His girl is a gem ,did he ever get married to her ? she exhudes beauty ,and so obviously in love with him .
Thank you for my favourite TV program in a sea of such American rubbish.
i watched all the programs on tv and i thought jimmy his partner and his workers were brill and i was proud to be british whilst watching a true british way of doing things the old way a real true essex pig yes we should be very proud of a young couple with a real pride in what they do thanks very much best prog on tv next to attenbourgh hope to see more in the future
I love Jimmy’s Farm, was addicted to the programme and totally in awe of Jimmy and his team. Now I regularly have a stall there when they hold their craft fairs and I can honestly say it is as lovely in real life, if not lovelier. Such a wonderful, tranquil place to be, in all seasons, they have done absolute wonders and I cannot praise it enough. Their passion shows through in every way.
I love his dedication and sheer hard work and commitment in the face of adversity and petty bureaucrcy. I enjoyed the television show immensely. He had a dream an I for one hope it comes true and stays true. He appeares to be a fine young man and deserving of success.
I love Jimmys program it is really interesting and exciting, ive got really in to it, its great!
Can you tell me if and when a new one is coming out.
I love it
Thanks!
Nice tranquil setting maybe, just a shame the welfare of the smaller animals are not taken seriously. The tragic death in this weeks show of a guinea pig killed by a dog, in view of I believe the public with children, was trivialised by the BBC, and despite expert advice on the setup of this money making animal spinner, none was taken, and this was a disaster waiting to happen. To also watch as the guinea pigs were tried to be captured with fishing nets, and one dragged out by it back legs of a house, hardly gives out the impression of responsible and knowledgable handling of these wonderful rodents to the general public.
Diversity is one thing, but at the expense of an animal’s life, and diversity not being done properly, is a disgrace.
Fast becoming nothing but a cheap shot attempt at a downmarket zoo pets corner. Outraged.
I think this programme is absolutely terrific, I am absolutely addicted to it. I think Jimmy and his girlfriend are wonderful the way they fight on to save the farm. I am now trying to get my husband to take me to Jimmy’s farm along with my grandchildren who I know will love it. Keep up the good work Jimmy.
Totaly agree with the above comment. They should be ashamed of themselves. The new ferret field will end the same way. Do they know that ferrets will kill guinea pigs and rabbits, i doubt it.
Thoroughly enjoyed another episode from Jimmys farm, I look forward to the next series. Wishing you all a happy and properous year.
Love what your trying to do at the farm and hope you manage to sort your finances out.Dolly is so entertaining he should have his own show.
The guinea-pig set up is no way as bad as made out by certain ‘upset’ parties. there have been problems but the staff and the rspca have sorted most of it. There are far far more places in the Uk who keep gps in terrible conditions on public display. Perhaps the person(s) persecuting the farm were upset that they ( a member of the public) were not obeyed instantly on their advice and the farm waited until talking to a vet, an animal behavioural psycologist and the rspca before changing anything?
superb pig farm with lots of very happy free range animals, no concrete indoor pens, chains or crates for them.
Visited last year ( not as general public ) to give tips on guinea pig set up. Was not impressed then ( but was assured things would change ) and am not impressed now. The area is clearly unsafe, the guineas are frightened and spend most of their time hiding in the houses. Didn’t see any fresh veggies and water bottles were dirty and green ! Also keep ferrets myself and am not happy with ferret set up.
Have no problems with rest of farm. Clean, spacious and bought meat from shop which apparently ( I don’t eat it ) was delicious. I too loved watching the programme until the guineas arrived. Come on guys do the same for the small livestock which will benefit you in the long run as these are the animals which draw in your public and your funds. LOUISE BYRNE ( ex Squeaky pigs rescue )
JIMMY`S FARM IS FAB..NO MATTER WHAT LIFE ON THE FARM THROWS AT JIMMY AND HIS GIRLFRIEND THEY SOME HOW PICK THEMSELVES UP AND GET ON WITH IT..THERE AREN`T MANY PEOPLE WHO WOULD BE ABLE TO TAKE THE STRESS…WELL DONE TO JIMMY`S FARM AND PLEASE PLEASE CARRY ON..
I have visited Jimmy’s farm twice.
I visited it on Saturday 29th sept & I was lucky enough to meet the lovely Jimmy . He really is a star . The farm is only about 14 miles away from where I live!!
My husband, John Clark, made a programme with Jimmy at Brogdale Farm, Faversham, Kent, recently and wishes to know
if it has already gone out on air (if so, will there be a repeat) and if he’s missed it, will you pass that way again.
Hope so!!
