you know i always go to my butcher with my austrian cookbook which has drawings exactly like these. otherwise i could never get those austrian cuts to order! other customers present usually laugh, but he loves the fact that i take my meat so seriously! A2 is a bit too big to take along, though ;-)

  2. Andrew says:

I wonder how many people have enough space on a kitchen wall to hang them; are not most walls covered with cupboards?

  3. stockton says:

These are great – my grandfather’s butcher’s shop was full of these things – classic designs. So evocative of a dying art…

  4. Majjie says:

I think they’re great and have mentioned them on my kitchen design blog as being just the thing for a big kitchen with an unfitted style – where there is likely to be enough wall space.

I am Head of Technology at Felpham Community College, Bognor Regis, West Sussex and we are particularly concerned at the lack of understanding of the meat industry by students aged between 12 and 16. We are particularly interested in acquiring posters and leaflets which show ‘exploded’ diagrams of cows/cuts of beef etc and would be grateful for any information which would enhance our school display boards.

Unfortunately our budget for these items is rather limited and wondered if there was a special rate for schools?

How may I order these posters?

If you haven’t looked at The River Cottage Meat Book, you should. It is an amazing cookbook full of beautiful pictures. The recipes are a mix between English, French and Italian with recipes for curing meat as well. I love this book. I have lugged it from America to Austria and then to Spain. I am pretty sure that there is now an American published version so it should be easy to find. These diagrams are also in the book. Enjoy

What is the address or telephone number of the people who provide the posters with the animals of sheep and lamb and pork cuts on it as it would be nice for the shop

  9. Andrew says:

  10. DIY Claire says:

I think they are great. Luckily my kitchen is big enough. I need to decide what animal to choose though. I do like pork!

My friend is moving to a new shop and I would like to get copies of these for him to decorate the walls… any ideas where I can buy them?

  14. Mick says:

Doh! forget that, I see they have them on RC website :-/

  15. Vanessa says:

For some reason I can’t find them on the River Cottage site for sale.
I really want to get one of each as they are an amazing learning tool. Where can I find them?
I live in New Zealand so can’t just pop over to buy them.

  16. Andrew says:

This post is from 2007; I can only assume they no longer sell them. Perhaps an email to the River Cottage people would elicit more details or at least pressure them to start stocking them again.

Got something to say? Go for it!
