Bertolli have released two new pasta sauces – Original (Inspired by Tuscany) and Garlic (Inspired by Puglia). Samples of both came our way earlier this week.
“Puglia is the ‘heel’ of the Italian boot. Imagine yourself there in the middle of ancient olive groves and historic villages, looking up into intense Mediterranean skies. Inspired by Puglia, Bertolli has captured the intense, precious style of cooking using garlic.”
Bertolli pasta sauce in pouch is made with natural ingredients with no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
Simply stirred though some browned mince beef and the addition of a chopped pepper and served with pasta is made for a rather good supper. The only complaint is that it was a little too oily. Certainly rich and intense and quite sweet too – those Puglian tomatoes ripened in that Mediterranean sun I guess. That and the 4th ingredient being sugar. (Tomato Puree 80%, Tomatoes 10%, Onions, sugar…)

1What crap!
Bertolli = Unilever.
Unilever = Processed Foods.
Bertolli Olive Oils are mainly full of oil from Turkey, North Africa, Greece, Spain and perhaps a little bit of Italian.
The nearest the people who designed these sauces got to Puglia would have been Gatwick Aiport station.

2Im not sure if this will get to the right person but i have a complaint about the bertolli chicken alla vodka & farfalle. On the packaging it states it has asparagus . the package i bought (plant p21340) had one single small piece in it. i think if th product states it has asparagus in it it should have more then that.
thank you for reading my letter

3So why, after 2 years of really enjoying the garlic sauce – one which ALL the family loves, has it disappeared off the supermarket shelves? What has happened?
