A firm date in every fashionista’s diary, Prêt-à-Portea is designed to add a creative twist to the classic elements of the traditional English afternoon tea with pastries resembling the latest catwalk designs.
Located in Knightsbridge, the heart of London’s fashion scene, the Berkeley launches its most exciting Prêt-à-Portea collection to date with showpieces including Burberry’s signature trench coat and Saint Laurent’s must-have red leather duffle bag. Fashion fans are invited to eat their designer hearts out on Jean Paul Gaultier cremeux and Vivienne Westwood macaroons after a day of shopping at style temples Harvey Nichols and Harrods!
Marking his 50th Anniversary in the industry this year, Prêt-à-Portea at the Berkeley celebrates Oscar de la Renta on the tea stand with his orange bavarois emphasised with shocking pink chocolate embroidery.
London based label Giles’s antique gold chocolate feather set on a base of Sacher Torte reflects the warm metallics everyone will be wearing this winter.
Italian designer favourite Emporio Armani makes its Prêt-à-Portea debut with a warm winter violet cassis mousse and light Curacao jelly topped with a whimsical chocolate swirl. Gianvito Rossi also makes his first appearance with this season’s must-have chocolate over-the-knee boot biscuit with ankle strap.
Marking a bold return this season is Saint Laurent with its classic autumn red duffle 6 victoria sponge cake bag, an indispensable colour to wear this autumn and stealing our hearts this season is Burberry’s patterned trench coat taking the form of a spiced ginger biscuit with caramel icing.
The Berkeley pastry chefs visit London fashion week shows to get their inspiration for the colours and the textures of the new collections. Prêt-à-Portea will echo the season’s trends of soft pinks, festive sparkles and patterns galore.
The Berkeley has forged links with Wedgwood who have produced a bespoke collection of fine-bone china for Prêt-à-Portea. Inspired by the current trends and styles, but mindful of their heritage, Wedgwood has created an exquisite multicoloured diamond shaped pattern gracing the new china for the ultimate fashion touch.
