Wallingford Food Festival

The Wallingford Food Festival is a celebration of the wide range of quality food produced within the south Oxfordshire area local to Wallingford.

The Food Festival aims to achieve the following:-
- to promote the value of “locally” produced food from meat, vegetables, fruit, eggs, etc and processed food such as bread, cakes, jams, preserves, beers, wines, meals etc.
- to show the sustainability of locally produced food and the part seasonality plays in food availability
- to educate people on how food is produced
- to promote Wallingford as a key market town in South Oxfordshire
- to demonstrate how to use the available produce

There will be a range of producers exhibiting, including: Riverford Organics, Coopers Pork, Thamesdown Nursery, Just Trading, Chillies 2 U, Cherry Tree, local meat, cheese, brewers and wines. There will be entertainment for the children and other items of interest. If you are keen to hear about cooking, food and other related topics there is a main tent where a range of sessions will be held during the day. There is more to come on these but a couple of speakers include Belinda Hill from Stirring Stuff, Robert Longstaff of the Oxford Garden Project and Paul Bellchambers.

So this is your chance to come and meet the producers and taste their produce and buy some of the best local food in Oxfordshire!

The Food Festival is being held on the Bridge Villa Campsite by kind permission of Mr Andrew Townsend, who runs a herd of traditional Hereford Beef in Little Wittenham. This is actually across the river in the village of Crowmarsh Gifford… gates open from 10am until 5pm on Saturday 14th May 2011.
