Wines of Roussillon Dessert Trophy 2007 – The Winner

The winners of the 2nd Wines of Roussillon Dessert Trophy were announced a few hours ago.

Chef Hideko Kawa and Sommelier Naoko Tomita of Restaurant Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road triumphed over three other restaurants to walk away with the trophy. Their pairing of Chocolate Gianduja Parfait with Roasted Pear and Pecan, Banyuls Syrup with Pear and Cardamon Foam with Banyuls Grand Cru, Cuvee Andrew Magneres, Domaine Vial Magneres 1996 impressed the six judges in a ‘hard fought contest’.

Sadly there was no sign of any samples being passed around during the reception.

“Attracting an increasingly high calibre of entries, the competition has once again stirred the creative juices of Britain’s on-trade, whose imaginative desserts and Roussillon Vin Doux Naturels combinations, have wooed and impressed the jury panel of top food and wine experts”
