Hearty claps and slaps on backs to welcome the arrival of the Strasberry; like your life was incomplete without them!
They are a raspberry shaped strawberry with a ‘unique aromatic flavour’. The strasberry was “born” in South America in the 1900s but virtually disappeared for the last half century until some Dutch growers rediscovered it. Waitrose will be selling a 125g punnet of strasberries for £3.99 but only in their 17 London branches, which explains why I couldn’t find them in my local branch yesterday, until late June or early July.

Not Strasberries for the masses then.
I have just checked on web to make sure and i am right i have a decent amount of Strasberries in my back garden, enough for me and my two children anyhow, at least i won’t have to pay a fortune in the shops for them !
I wasnt aware you could buy plants to grow your own… so thanks for that Leanne.
Well I don’t know about London, but they have them in a Cambridgeshire Waitrose today!
They’re at Goldsworth Park Waitrose at the moment; I ate a punnet tonight!
Any chance of getting some in the US?
They sell them in the Lincoln branch of Waitrose, bought some today
Lucky you Rebecca! My little local Waitrose hasnt been blessed with any…
I saw them in a Cambridge Tesco today! (The shame….)
