Hearty claps and slaps on backs to welcome the arrival of the Strasberry; like your life was incomplete without them!
They are a raspberry shaped strawberry with a ‘unique aromatic flavour’. The strasberry was “born” in South America in the 1900s but virtually disappeared for the last half century until some Dutch growers rediscovered it. Waitrose will be selling a 125g punnet of strasberries for £3.99 but only in their 17 London branches, which explains why I couldn’t find them in my local branch yesterday, until late June or early July.
