The Tasting Sessions takes you Towards a Fluid State

The Tasting Sessions are about to launch a new food and drink festival in London on the 05 December 2009.

Called “Towards a Fluid State” and held in an undisclosed warehouse location in Dalston, this festival will be the first of its kind. An immersive and informative food and drink experience profiling flights of Cognac, Whisky, Gin, Sake and Natural & Biodynamic wine matched with delicious morsels of food. Also a platform for some of the UK’s hottest emerging contemporary artists, musicians, set and fashion designers this will be a truly unique experience and one not to miss.

“It’s not a farmers market nor is it anything like Taste London. This is about delivering unusual and compelling experiences around what people eat and drink” says, Angella Newell, one of the founders. “This is a proof of concept for a much larger scale event in summer 2010″.

Hayley Sudbury, the other founder, comments: “We are working with a fantastic range of independent producers, distributors and brands on this event. We are focused on fit and quality and always look for the interesting and unique angles. Every flight always has a “rock your world” element, whether that is a silent whisky distillery, 100 year old cognac or an extraordinary premier cru”.

The festival will run from 3-11pm with timed entry. Tickets start at £16.50 and go on sale soon.

If you follow any of the top London food blogs they should be reporting on a press/blogger briefing in a week or so.

National Baking Week 2009

national baking week 2009Last year saw the launch of National Baking Week (19th – 25th October) – this year sees the nation rise to the occasion once again with an even bigger and better campaign.

Supported by TV celebrity chef and Ladette to Lady favourite Rosemary Shrager, this year’s campaign is designed to invigorate Britain to bake and share…Share with your friends, your colleagues, even your neighbours – but get out there and share!

During this year’s economic downturn, more people are heading back to the kitchen to whip up a little piece of luxury for themselves. Store-cupboard favourites such as bread and butter pudding, pancakes, rice pudding and scones are making a comeback, as the nostalgic nosh gives us a warm, fussy feeling inside, without breaking the budget.

With the theme of community strongly running through the campaign this year, we are urging communities to reclaim regional recipes. So if you’re a Yorkshireman living in Yeovil or a Liverpudlian living in London, treat your friends and workmates to a typical Northern treat – but get in touch and tell us who you are and what you’re baking at www.nationalbakingweek.co.uk.

Pyrex has joined forces with other high-profile baking brands including Philadelphia, Kenwood and Silver Spoon Cakecraft, to bring baking to the masses through National Baking Week.

Baking makes people happy – it conjures up images of families in the kitchen – delicious smells throughout the house and shared treats when they come out of the oven. Baking with children is great family fun – and one of the best activities to be shared by all ages, from toddlers through to pensioners. Finally – what can be healthier than baking? Pop a recipe load of healthy ingredients together in the oven and they retain their goodness and bake into delicious meal.

If baking is happiness – then we think that it is time to share it around. That’s why this year we are encouraging the whole of Britain to ‘Bake and Share’! It could be baking cookies for everyone in your office, sharing the kitchen with your family or having a cake share in your neighbourhood. The most important thing is that you get out there and make people feel as good as you do about baking.

This year National Baking Week has a real school focus. Our special school share section is packed with ideas on how you and your school can celebrate National Baking Week. With a full set of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 lesson plans, it covers many areas of the National Curriculum – and brings baking, learning and fun together in the classroom.

All this – plus we are bringing together some of the UK’s favourite baking brands for great offers, recipes, competitions and events. Click here to find out what’s going on during National Baking Week this year!

So it’s time to grab your apron and head for the kitchen – and discover how, from 19th to 25th October you can get involved in ‘Bake and Share’.
