Herend China at Fortnum & Mason

Fortnum & Mason is now hosting an exhibition of exquisite Herend china in their store (running from 6th April to 31st May 2009).

“Fortnum & Mason has a long history supporting Herend having worked closely with them for over 25 years. The exhibition will be Herend china’s first UK showcase in over ten years, with the last major exhibition held at L’Hermitage in St Petersburg. Visitors to the store will be able to see the exhibition on the first floor with an auction taking place on the 28th April 2009.”

Herend created a beautiful hand-painted eau de nil coloured collection which is exclusive at Fortnum & Mason which ensures a collectible item for the fine china connoisseur.

The exhibition will comprise of specially selected pieces from the Herend museum capturing Herend’s history. Herend has created a limited edition pair of spectacular painted covered vases to be auctioned for the Cutty Sark Conservation Project. Also being exhibited are a number of striking and unusual pieces still in production today.

A visually striking giant eau de nil Tea Cup will be displayed in the Fortnum & Mason window and a master painter from Herend will be demonstrating the art of hand-painting Herend porcelain on the 28th & 29th April and 14th & 15th May.

Additionally, an exquisite collection of 301 teapots will be for sale within the store representing the Fortnum & Mason legacy. All will have a collector’s certificate marking the special exhibition event.
