Deliciouslyorkshire at the Great Yorkshire Show
deliciouslyorkshire, the campaigning brand for the Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber (RFG), is showcasing a host of superb producers and an enlarged cookery theatre on the Welcome to Yorkshire stand at the Great Yorkshire Show, held 13-15 July in Harrogate. The highly anticipated 2010 guide to food and drink, ‘Yorkshire’s Own Kitchen: The Guide to the Best Food and Drink from Yorkshire and the Humber which is packed with recipes from celebrities and award-winning chefs, will also be launched.
The Food Producers
More food producers than ever before will be attending under the deliciouslyorkshire banner – with more than forty food producers in the food hall and Womersley Fruit and Herb Vinegars, Deli Delicious Gifts and Yorkshire Hemp taking up specially designed outdoor stands for the first time.
From award-winning cheeses to beautifully crafted cupcakes and hand-reared Yorkshire meat, the deliciouslyorkshire stand includes the best produce the region has to offer.
Curry Cuisine will be launching a Hot Gooseberry Pickle, two years in the making, as well as a Yorkshire Rhubarb Chilli Jam, using PDO protected status Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb from Oldroyd’s farm.
Richard Elmhirst will be attending the show as both President of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society and Managing Director of Round Green Deer Farm. The farm is providing the British Deer Farmers Association’s marquee in an effort to recruit more Yorkshire Deer Farmers, as demand for venison is outstripping supply.
Simon Barrett, Founder of The Chilli Jam Man, will be giving Yorkshire consumers their chance to try his hottest jam yet, Yorkshire Dragon, as well as his specially-created Chilli Jam Pork Pies produced in conjunction with Robinson’s Butchers.
Yorkshire’s Own Kitchen
deliciouslyorkshire’s definitive guide to Yorkshire’s food and drink will be launched at the show, and offered at a special introductory price. This year the guide features contributions from gardener and TV personality Alan Titchmarsh in which he recalls childhood memories of mouth-watering homemade grub!
The guide also features a chart of foods in season and a bumper recipe section, supplied by some of the region’s most respected and renowned chefs including James Martin and Rosemary Shrager, so readers can recreate a little taste of Yorkshire at home.
The Cookery Theatre
Compered by Nigel Bardon and Stephanie Moon, the deliciouslyorkshire cookery theatre, based for the first time at the Welcome to Yorkshire stand, is a free opportunity to see culinary perfection in action.
There is a chance to watch inspirational cooking demonstrations from some of the regions highly acclaimed chefs, ask a Michelin starred chef their top tips, learn how to have the perfect Afternoon Tea with Betty’s & Taylor’s of Harrogate, and see top chefs battle it out in ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’ style.
